Started in the spring of 2004, Stone’s Throw Consulting was started by Jed Rathband.  A Portland resident since 2003, Jed spent 8 years in the San Francisco bay area before moving to Maine.  While in San Francisco, Jed finished his degree in 2000 at the New College of California, earning a B.A. in Humanities.  He then worked in the thriving high-tech sector where his work brought him to Beijing, China.  There he focused on the digital camera markets of Taiwan, Korea, and Hong Kong.

However it was the deepening recession of 2001, culminating in the events of September 11^th that finally brought him to the work he cared most passionately about – Politics.

Cutting his teeth in the rough and tumble world of San Francisco politics – Jed made his way back to his native New England, deciding on Portland as a place to continue pursuing his consulting work.

First hired by CasinosNo!, Jed went on to work as a grassroots lobbyist for the Natural Resources Council of Maine, and then political director for the Sierra Club of Maine during the 2004 election cycle. 

From there Jed was well underway with his business and the many other projects that have come to define the work of Stone’s Throw Consulting.
